I qualified as a teacher back in June 1978 but for reasons long lost decided not to go into teaching but pursue a career in music. Financially, possibly not a good move, sanity wise, a good choice.

In 2007 I decided to begin private guitar tutoring in between ongoing touring and gigs. I have concentrated on beginners and intermediate levels with ages ranging from five to seventy and specialising in acoustic steel string guitar.

I have facilities to either teach at my house or travel, within reason, to you. Children I always teach at their own home. I hold the necessary third party Insurances and have an Enhanced CRB certificate.

I have just been appointed the Community Education Guitar Tutor for Prince Henry’s Grammar School in Otley for the term beginning Sept 20th 2010.

For more information please give me a call or email from the contacts page on the site.

“Jon’s guitar tuition has been extremely helpful and beneficial to me; as well as correcting the mistakes I’d learnt from certain guitar manuals, he also inspired me to open my ears to new genres of music. Jon has a very welcoming and comfortable studio for teaching. Jon also encouraged me to replicate songs and emphasized the importance of practicing songs; which eventually led me to write my own songs, if only to stop him correcting my mistakes!”
